Pianowork is becoming a dying art and getting an education in it has become more difficult as time goes on. Zach had the great fortune of studying under some of the best piano technicians in the industry while at BYU including Keith Kopp, Jim Busby and Rick Baldassin. Rick became his long-term mentor and teacher while working at Baldassin Pianos and in the restoration shop for nearly a decade. There his understanding of pianos grew deep and broad as he worked restoring pianos down to their foundations, building new soundboards, bridges and pinblocks and bringing pianos back to life from the ground up.

Since then he has worked with Hyrum Weibel, a Steinway Artist Technician, where he has learned the unique approaches necessary to make Steinway pianos truly sing. Now, with over a decade in piano work, having serviced thousands of pianos, He can confidently say there is no problem he cannot fix.

Zach is a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) with the Piano Technicians Guild. This means he has proven his tuning and technical skills before a panel of his peers, passing hours long exams at a high level of proficiency. Through the guild he stays current on best practices and volunteers in teaching those interested in the craft.
